CERT IS BACK IN TOWN!
I know, it never really left, but it has been in limbo for a short time while we have been reorganizing. Mark and Lani Emmich are the new CERT leaders for Salem City and they are very excited about getting things going.First things first. Many of you that are CERT trained have asked if there is going to be more CERT training. Yes, there is. Ken Moravec is going to be offering another marathon CERT training class on May 5th from 8:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Elk Ridge Church on Alpine Drive. Lunch will be provided at no charge and we will order out pizza from Little Caesars Pizza (there won’t be time to leave for lunch or dinner). The cost of the pizza is $5.35 and will be collected when you sign in. You can bring your own dinner if you would prefer. The follow-up class and mock emergency will be held the next Saturday, May 12th, from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon. The class is free, but to get CERT certified it will cost $35.00 per person. This covers the cost of the badge, vest, book, gloves and hard hat. Anybody ages 12 to 112 are encouraged to come. If you are already CERT certified you are welcome to come to brush up on your training. There will be no cost for those retraining. Please sign up at the city office so that we know how many people to count on (we don’t want to run short on food or training materials.) You do not pay at that time, but instead pay at the first class. If you miss this training there will be another marathon training class in September in Salem at the Main Street LDS Church. I know that these marathon training classes are a bit difficult and we are going to try to change the way we train and break it up into smaller more manageable classes, but what we need is more available trainers. If you are interested in becoming a trainer, please contact the city office and give them your name and phone number so that we can get something set up. We will not ask you to do a marathon class, but instead we will have you stay here in Salem and teach classes that are more manageable. The more trainers we have, the better and more effective our program will become. So, LETS GET TRAINED! |
